IN CHANDNI CHOWK

  • Various Projects undertaken involving expenditure from MP Local Area Development Fund

  • Projects worth Rs.44 lakhs for changing of sewer and water lines and relaying 110 roads with latest RCC technology being executed in Bazar Sita Ram and Kucha Pandit.
  • Construction of Water Reservoir in Chandni Chowk.
  • Construction of a Dispensary at Lahori Gate, Old Chungi Building without any cost to Government
  • Construction of Community Centres at Tikona Park, Shahi Idgah and Asaf Ali Road.
  • Reconstruction of girl’s school in Panama Building - This work was pending for the last fourteen years.
  • In-Situ Settlement of JJ Clusters - JJ dwellers to be provided flats in a multi-storey complex having all the basic amenities on the same site.
  • Allopathic dispensary started at Paiwalan, Chandni Chowk.
  • Launch of Health Safari Programme with the aim of providing free health check-up, vaccination, medicines, spectacles etc, to school going children.
  • Re-alignment of proposed flyover at Rani Jhansi Road to save Masjid Haji Fakhruddin,  at Nawab Ganj, Pul Bangash, Azad Market.
  • Provision of 500 High Power Sodium Vapour Lights and 25 High Mast Lights in the Constituency
  • Monthly pension scheme of Rs. 1000 per month made available to almost all eligible senior citizens & widows
  • An ambulance donated from personal funds for poor sections caters to more than 300 patients everyday.
  • Plan for development of the Area near Jama Masjid in the process of finalization.
  • A Legal Advice Cell, as promised during elections in operation at Darya Ganj, benefiting large number of people.  
  • Water purifiers and water coolers in government and aided schools made available through Delhi govt. /NGOs.
  • 3000 Urdu teachers recruited by Delhi government on contract basis through persistent efforts of Sh. Kapil Sibal.

 

AT NATIONAL LEVEL

  • Has been a Member of Parliament for over 10 years.

  • Has always espoused the cause of secularism.
  • Official Spokesperson of the Party for the 1999 and 2004 Lok Sabha elections.
  • Articulated the partys position throughout the course of the negotiations on the Indo - US Nuclear Deal.
  • Led the way in using science & technology as a vehicle to impact the life of the common man.
  • First ever Member of Parliament to have visited the icy continent of Antarctica (2-4 February, 2005)
  • Led the first Indian expedition to Arctic and was responsible for setting up an Indian Research Station ‘Himadri’ there in July, 2008.
  • Led the Indian delegation to Annapolis Conference, USA for realization of Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process in November, 2007.
  • Led the Indian delegation to the United Nation Framework   convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at Bali in December 2007.
